Sur Dhwani "Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan"
He is another amazing singer. Once again, listening to him play heals
the soul and body and brings the listener to the light.
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan "Sarod Recitals"
He is considered to be one of the greatest modern sarod players. (The
sarod is a 25-stringed lute-like instrument, whose body is hand carved
from a single block of tun [Indian mahogany] or teak wood, with a steel
fretless finger board. Some student models are made of 2 pieces wood.
The bridge rests on the belly of the instrument, which is covered in goat
skin. It is played with a plectrum or jaba made of coconut. It has a total
of 25 strings. Four of the strings are melody or playing strings; three
are rhythm strings, and the rest are sympathetic and jawari strings.)
It is proven, listening to him play heals the soul and body and brings
the listener to the light.
Ustad Bismillah Khan "Shaan And Shehnai"
He is the most famous shehnai player in the world. (The shehnai is a north
Indian oboe. Although it is referred to as a double-reeded instrument
it is actually a quadruple-reed instrument. This is because it has two
upper reeds and two lower reeds. The instrument has a wooden body with
a brass bell. The reed is attached to a brass tube that is wrapped in
string. The shehnai has eight holes but it is common to find some of the
holes partially or completely occluded with wax. The sound of the shehnai
is considered particularly auspicious. For this reason it is found in
temples and is an indispensable component of any North Indian wedding.
Listening to him play, as they say, heals the soul and body and brings
the listener to the light.
Ustad Sabri Khan "Raga Darbari Raga Multani"
He is an incredible sarangi musician. (The sarangi is a small gut strings
instrument is carved in a single piece of wood. The neck is fretless and
the bridge is seated on a skin stretched over the body of the instrument.
The 3 playing strings are played with a bow [different from the violin
bow, the tension is convex and adaptative held in the right hand.] Listening
to him play heals the soul and body and brings the listener to the light.
